Comprehensive Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 15, 2026
1. Introduction
At YouthTyping ("we", "our", or "us"), we are deeply committed to safeguarding the privacy and security of your personal data. This Comprehensive Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, processing, and disclosure of information that we receive when you interact with our suite of products. This includes our website, Windows desktop application, Android mobile application, backend APIs, and any other services we provide (collectively, the "Service" or "Platform").
We recognize that our users—many of whom are aspiring government employees preparing for critical typing examinations—entrust us with sensitive personal and technical information. By creating an account, downloading our software, or navigating our web properties, you explicitly consent to the data practices outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Service.
2. The Information We Collect
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you. The data we collect generally falls into three main categories: Information You Provide to Us, Information We Collect Automatically, and Information from Third Parties.
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
When you register for an account on YouthTyping, request customer support, or subscribe to our premium plans, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information ("Personal Data"). This may include, but is not limited to:
- Contact Information: Your full name, email address, and mobile phone number.
- Demographic Information: Your state, city, and primary language preferences (e.g., Hindi or English) to tailor your typing curriculum.
- Account Credentials: A securely hashed version of your password. We never store passwords in plain text.
- Communications: Records and copies of your correspondence (including email addresses and chat logs) if you contact our support team.
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
As you navigate through and interact with our web platform and desktop software, we use automatic data collection technologies (including background polling processes) to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and software usage patterns. This ensures our licensing mechanics function correctly and helps us improve our educational tools. This data includes:
- Hardware Identifiers (Crucial for Anti-Piracy): When you install and log into the YouthTyping desktop software, we generate and securely collect a unique Hardware ID (which may be derived from your MAC address, Motherboard serial, or CPU ID). This is strictly used to bind your purchased License Key to your specific physical device to prevent account sharing and software piracy.
- Typing Analytics and Performance Data: We track your keystrokes, Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM), Net Words Per Minute (NWPM), error rates, accuracy percentages, and the specific lessons you complete. This data is the core of our educational service, allowing us to generate detailed historical progress reports for your dashboard.
- Device and Connection Data: We may collect information about your operating system (e.g., Windows 10/11, Android version), IP address, browser type, and browser version.
- Usage Logs: Details of your interactions with the Service, including the date and time of logins, the specific typing tests accessed, and the duration of your practice sessions.
2.3 Payment Information
To process purchases for our premium Individual and Institutional plans, we utilize secure, regulated third-party payment gateways (such as Cashfree or Razorpay). We do not collect, process, or store your full credit card numbers, bank account details, or UPI PINs on our servers. We only receive and store transaction metadata, such as the Order ID, Payment Status, the amount paid, and the timestamp of the transaction, to issue your License Keys.
3. How We Use Your Information
The data we collect is utilized to provide, maintain, and improve our platform. Specifically, we use your information for the following core purposes:
- Service Delivery & Authentication: To create your account, authenticate your logins across Web, Desktop, and Android platforms, and provide you access to the dashboard.
- License Management: To generate valid software License Keys, validate them against your Hardware ID, and periodically verify their status in the background to enforce our one-device-per-user policy (for Individual plans) or seat limits (for Institutional plans).
- Educational Tracking: To store your typing test analytics, calculate your historical progress, and present detailed visual graphs on your dashboard so you can track your improvement over time.
- Transaction Processing: To securely process payments via third-party gateways and issue automated payment receipts.
- Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries, troubleshoot technical bugs, and perform manual hardware ID resets when requested.
- Communication: To send you transactional emails (such as password reset links) and occasional important administrative notices (e.g., updates to this Privacy Policy or critical software patches).
- Security and Fraud Prevention: To monitor for suspicious activity, prevent fraudulent transactions, enforce our Terms & Conditions, and detect attempts to decompile or crack the software.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We value your privacy immensely. We do not sell, rent, trade, or lease your Personal Data to marketing agencies, data brokers, or any third parties for their independent commercial use. We only disclose your information under the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers and Payment Processors: We share necessary technical details (such as your registered email, mobile number, and Order IDs) with our trusted payment gateways strictly for the purpose of securely processing your financial transactions. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and data protection laws.
- Legal Requirements and Law Enforcement: We may disclose your Personal Data if we are required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order, a subpoena, or a government agency request). We will also disclose information if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, or potential threats to the physical safety of any person.
- Protection of Our Rights: We may disclose data when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of YouthTyping, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for the purposes of fraud protection and software piracy prevention.
- Business Transfers: If YouthTyping is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or corporate restructuring, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice on our website before your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your transaction data to comply with applicable tax laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies. Usage Data and typing analytics are generally retained for the lifespan of your account to provide you with historical progress graphs. If you request account deletion, we will purge your typing history, though we may retain your Hardware ID in a hashed, anonymized format on a blocklist if your account was terminated due to piracy.
6. Data Security Measures
The security of your data is a paramount concern for us. We implement robust, industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information from accidental loss, unauthorized access, alteration, and disclosure. All communications between the YouthTyping desktop software, mobile applications, and our backend servers are encrypted over HTTPS utilizing TLS protocols. License tokens are securely signed using RSA encryption. User passwords are mathematically hashed using modern cryptographic algorithms (such as bcrypt) and are never stored or transmitted in plain text. However, please remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Your Data Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have specific rights regarding your personal data. We aim to provide you with reasonable control over the information you share with us:
- Access and Update: You can review and change your personal information by logging into the Web Dashboard and visiting your Profile page.
- Data Portability: Upon request, we can provide you with an export of your typing analytics and history in a standard machine-readable format.
- Account Deletion (Right to be Forgotten): You may request the complete deletion of your account and associated personal data. Please note that deleting your account is a permanent, irreversible action. It will destroy your typing history and instantly invalidate any active premium License Keys associated with your account without any refund. To initiate account deletion, please contact our support team.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is intended for individuals preparing for government typing examinations, which generally require users to be at least 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in their jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take immediate steps to remove that information from our servers.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Comprehensive Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective immediately when they are posted on this page.
